Beautiful jewel case CD of "New American Century"
Midwest Soul Xchange returns with a new concept album, Weakened at the Asylum—a rock opera that passionately positions the Flint, Michigan water crisis as a lens through which to explore themes of (insert three nouns here: hope, madness, perseverance, power, betrayal, etc). With a cascade of melodies and soaring harmonies, the alt-Americana duo guides listeners through the entwined experiences of a lab worker turned whistleblower, his morally loose female companion, a foreign agent of espionage, and a revolutionary cult leader with a penchant for revenge. Drenched in ‘70s rock nostalgia, Weakened at the Asylum is a mysterious hitchhiker's story transmitted via radio. A vivid narrative in the realm of Quadrophenia, Breakfast in America, and The Hazards of Love. A true portrait of American melancholia. Midwest Soul Xchange is made up of longtime friends and collaborators Nate Cherrier and Ryan Summers. Aligning with the duo’s strong DIY ethos, Weakened at the Asylum was composed and performed entirely at Nate and Ryan’s respective Arizona and Wisconsin locales. Weakened at the Asylum will be available November 23 through most major streaming and digital music services.
